more about volunteer opportunities
ART
Kennydale Elementary does not have an official art teacher. Instead, the PTA helps to provide opportunities to experience visual arts through the following programs:
PTA volunteers facilitate art projects and instruction in our classrooms through the Art Docent program. Art docents schedule once-a-month projects with teachers (most often their child's) using instruction guides and material lists for each grade level. Interested in joining or helping coordinate the team? Let us know!
Ceramics
Kennydale students often participate in ceramics projects led by parent volunteers. Interested in helping? Let us know!
Reflections
Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school but in life. Students in pre-K through grade 12 create original works of art in response to a theme and submit their completed works in one or more of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. While the primary focus of Reflections is a celebration of creativity through positive recognition, finalists from local PTAs will move on to their council PTA, then finalists from councils will move on to the state round for their division. Selected works of art will advance to the Renton PTA Council round, and potentially the Washington State PTA and National PTA rounds, with recognition opportunities at each round. Interested in helping coordinate the Reflections submissions, showcase, or selecting works that move to the state level? Let us know!
